Our activity site is nestled in nature and is the perfect place to experience the Northern Lights.
The Northern Lights are described as one of the world's most magnificent natural phenomena. With their spectacular colors, sometimes reminiscent of a rainbow, this light display occurs when electrically charged particles from the sun collide with the Earth's magnetic field, between 100 and 400 kilometers above the ground.
- Comfortable and warm seating in our glass building, our large lavvu, or our cozy barbecue huts.
- Outdoor amphitheater for viewing the Northern Lights, with reindeer hides for comfortable seating.
- Fire pits located around the area.
- Four fire pits where you can grill your own food.
- Marked and accessible Northern Lights trail around the site.
- Large screen where we show Northern Lights photos and share our Northern Lights story.
- Guides who assist with photography and tell stories about Alta and the Northern Lights.
- Lasso throwing, a Sami tradition for catching reindeer.
- Large snow piles where you can try sledding on a snowboard.
- Serving of homemade cakes, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.
- Serving of small meat dishes for grilling over the fire.
The number of guests depends on whether we use the large lavvu or our barbecue huts. The lavvu accommodates 80 people, and our barbecue huts hold 15 people each.
We have a capacity for a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 300 people per group. We recommend two groups per evening, with the following times: 6:00 PM–9:00 PM and 9:00 PM–12:00 AM.
